The third weekend of Lincolnshire County Championships, held at Grantham on Sunday 10th February, saw the South Lincs swimmers collect a further 21 medals, comprised of 6 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze. There were also numerous Regional qualifying times and Club Records achieved by the swimmers.
Isobel Gosling had a tremendous day of swimming collecting gold in the 200m Butterfly in a new girls 11 years age group Club Record of 2 minutes 41.03seconds, a personal best by over fourteen seconds and a time that see’s Isobel move into the top 10 in the British rankings in this event. In a tense 50m Butterfly final Isobel swam strongly in the second half of the race to win gold by just 1/100th of a second in a new PB of 34.78 seconds. Just to round out the day Isobel also took silver in the 50m Breaststroke in a time of 41.42 seconds and bronze in the 100m Freestyle in 1 minute 08.47 seconds.
Ellisha Cookson maintained her outstanding form over the weekend claiming gold in the girls 15 years age group 50m Breaststroke, totally dominating the heats and finals. Ellisha’s heat time of 34.65 seconds was a new Club Record and her finals swim saw Ellisha win the Senior Championship title. Ellisha went on to claim gold in the girls 200m Butterfly in a new personal best time of 2 minutes 28.85 seconds and added two silver medals to her collection in the finals of the 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly both in new personal best times of 1 minute 00.97 seconds and 30.62 seconds respectively.
Aurinija Maliauskaite collected a hat trick of medals in the girls 15 years age group. Aurinija led a South Lincs clean sweep of the medals in the 100m Freestyle claiming gold in a new personal best time of 1 minute 00.07 seconds. There was also a new PB for Aurinija in the 50m Breaststroke as she took the silver medal in a time of 37.26 seconds and to finish the day she added a bronze medal in the 50m Butterfly in a time of 31.09 seconds.
Daisy Rummery joined the roll call of South Lincs swimmers who have become County Champions in 2019. Daisy swept to victory and the top of the podium in the girls 15 years age group 100m Backstroke with a new personal best time of 1 minute 10.62 seconds to clinch her first ever county gold medal.
Emma Croker was on fine sprint form over the day as she collected a hat trick of silver medal in the girls 14 years age group. Emma started her campaign in the 100m Backstroke with a new personal best time of 1 minute 08.19 seconds to collect her first medal. Emma went on to post a further PB in the 100m Freestyle, with an outstanding time of 59.40 seconds in the final, and set a new Club Record in the process for her second medal. Emma’s third medal came in the 50m Butterfly where she improved her own Club Record with a heat time of 29.43 seconds.
Nitesh Anbazhagan collected two medals over the day. Nitesh swam to a bronze medal in the boys 13 years age group 50m Butterfly with a time of 33.33 seconds in the heats to set a new personal best time. Nitesh also went on to collect the silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 37.46 seconds.
Charlotte Ciuberkyte collected her first ever County Championship medal as she fought her way back through the field of the girls 13 years age group 50m Breaststroke to claim the silver medal in a new personal best time of 38.33 seconds.
Oliver Sorrell collected a bronze medal in the boys 12 years age group 200m Butterfly with a huge personal best time by eleven seconds to stop the clock in 2 minutes 59.27 seconds. Dusty Saines produced a new personal best in the girls 15 years age group 100m Freestyle to snatch the bronze medal in a time of 1 minute 03.02 seconds. Edward Skells produced a tremendous swim in the boys 15 years age group 100m Backstroke to also claim a bronze medal and set a new three second personal best time finishing in 1 minute 09.35 seconds.
The South Lincs swimmers also made a further 24 finals where they placed 4th to 8th position. Finals achieved by swimmers not already mentioned were; Frank Lamb, Lucas Garlike, Atticus Strickland, Erin Siggee, Beatrice Finch, Andre Ubaviciute, Anya Strickland, Mollie Briggs, Esther Skells and Luke Blanchard.
