South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club

South Lincs swimmers are off to a strong start in the opening weekend of Lincolnshire County Championships held at Grantham on the 19th and 20th January. The South Lincs swimmers collected 29 medals in total, comprised of 10 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze. The weekend also saw five of the club's swimmers become County Champions for 2019
Ellisha Cookson collected four gold medals and County Championship titles over the weekend. Ellisha swam a stunning 400 Individual Medley to finish in a ten second personal best time of 5 minutes 07.33 seconds to take her first gold medal. Ellisha backed this up with wins in the girls 15 years age group in the 200m breaststroke (2.46.81), 200m freestyle (2.11.16) - in which she led a South Lincs clean sweep of the medals - and the 100m Individual Medley (1.08.49).
Isobel Gosling, swimming in the girls 12 years age group and at her first County Championships, swept to gold medals in new personal best times in the 400 Freestyle (4.58.73), the 200 Breaststroke (3.06.80) and the 100 Butterfly (1.15.05). In addition to this Issey also collected silver medals in the 200 Freestyle (2.25.12) and the 100 Individual Medley (1.18.27).
Aurinija Maliauskaite took the County Championship title and gold medal in the girls 15 years age group 100m Butterfly. Aurinija set a new personal best in the heats with a time of 1.08.27 and then further reduced her time in the final to 1.06.40. Aurinija has also collected a further three silver medals in the 400 Individual Medley (5.15.58), the 200 Freestyle (2.13.27) and the 100 Individual Medley (1.09.97), all in new personal best times.
Emma Croker took her County Championship title in the girls 14 years age group 200m Freestyle in a time of 2.09.53. Emma not only won her age group but took the Junior Championship title and collected silver in the Senior Championship. Emma also collected a silver medal in the 400m Freestyle with a new personal best time of 4.40.95 and a bronze medal in the 100m Butterfly, again in a new personal best of 1.06.78.
Mollie Briggs took gold and the County Championship title in the girls 14 years age group 400m Freestyle in a time of 4.37.75. Mollie also collected a bronze medal in the 200m Freestyle with a new personal best time of 2.14.94.
Oliver Sorrell has had a strong weekend of performances and posted new personal best times across a range of events. Ollie collected a bronze medal in the boys 12 years age group 400m Freestyle (5.06.86) and a silver medal in the 200m Breaststroke (3.20.42). Ollie also set new Personal best times in the finals of the 100m Individual Medley and the 100m Butterfly.
Luke Blanchard, competing in the Men's Open, took the silver medal in the 400m Freestyle in a new personal best time of 4.18.15 and promptly backed this up with a bronze medal in the 400m Individual Medley in a time, just outside his best, of 4.54.88. Luke also collected a bronze medal in the 200 Freestyle with a new personal best time of 2.03.71
Esther Skells took the bronze medal in the girls 15 years age group 400m Freestyle. Esther set a new personal best time of 4.45.39 to win her first County Championship medal. Esther also set a new personal best time in the heats of the 100m Butterfly in qualifying for the final in her age group.
Daisy Rummery produced strong swims in her preferred Freestyle and Backstroke events. Daisy collected silver medals in the 400m Freestyle and the 50m Backstroke in times of 4.39.57 – a new personal best time - and 33.55 respectively. Daisy also collected the bronze medal in the girls 15 years age group 200m Freestyle with a time of 2.14.99.
There was a surprise for Beatrice Finch who collected her first County Championship medal in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 3.06.95. Beatrice prefers the Freestyle and Backstroke events, but produced a terrific swim in the longer Breaststroke event to make it a podium finish.
There was a silver medal for Nitesh Anbazhagan in the boys 13 years 200m Breaststroke. Despite being slightly outside his best time, Nitesh posted a strong 2.57.82 to claim his first medal of the championships.
